U.S. Government Agencies Promoting Rule of Law Development in China

 

U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL)

Administers the disbursement of Human Rights Development Fund monies dedicated to human rights and democracy in China.

Past programs supported

U.S. Department of State, Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing (PAS)

Administers a small grants program that fosters rule of law and civil society development, among other objectives.

 

U.S. Department of Labor, International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB)

Administers a labor rule of law program for China.

 

U.S. Department of Commerce:  General Counsel¡¯s Office and China Office of the Market Access Compliance Office, International Trade Administration

Organize, conduct, and participate in a number of conferences and seminars on U.S. and Chinese approaches to commercial law development. 

 

U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, General Counsel¡¯s Office

Participates in intellectual property rights workshops and seminars throughout China.

 

U.S. Trade and Development Agency

Supports U.S. companies engaged in projects in China, including WTO-related education.

 

Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, International Judicial Relations Committee

Supports judicial visits by U.S. federal judges to China and by Chinese judges.
