By wire, on October 31, from Beijing, Xinhua News Agency National People's Congress Standing Committee Decision on Amending the "PRC Organic Law of the People's Courts" (Passed on October 31, 2006, at the 24th Session of the 10th National People's Congress Standing Committee) The 24th Session of the 10th National People's Congress Standing Committee decided to make the following amendment to the "PRC Organic Law of the People's Courts": Article 13 amended to read: "Death penalty sentences, with the exception of those decided by the Supreme People's Court, shall be submitted to the Supreme People's Court for review and approval." This decision is effective as of January 1, 2007. The "PRC Organic Law of the People's Courts," amended in accordance with this decision and after adjustment of the sequence of its provisions, are promulgated anew.

The 24th Session of the 10th National People's Congress Standing Committee decided to make the following amendment to the "PRC Organic Law of the People's Courts":

第十届全国人民代表大会常务委员会第二十四次会议决定对《中华人民共和国人民法院组织法》作如下修改：
第十三条修改为：“死刑除依法由最高人民法院判决的以外，应当报请最高人民法院核准。”
本决定自2007年1月1日起施行。
《中华人民共和国人民法院组织法》根据本决定作修改并对条款顺序作调整后，重新公布。
